[EXCLUSIVE] INTERVIEW: The new chapter of OnlyOneOf members as QQQ
QQQ are here to start a new journey! Formerly a part of ‘OnlyOneOf’, the trio, consisting of KB, JISUNG and NINE, brings a refreshing, unexpected energy to the global audience.
With tracks varying from upbeat and rock-style tunes to softer melodies, the members opened their new chapter in February, with the mini album [QtoresQ]. This project includes 4 tracks: ‘UNCOOL’, ‘QtoresQ’, ‘Rainbow shade’ and ‘Burnaway’ (into the fire)’, all aligning with the group’s evolving vibe.
In our interview with QQQ, we had the opportunity to discuss their new era, current musical identity and upcoming steps!
1. Starting from the beginning of this fresh path, what is the meaning behind your current group name “QQQ”?
“O.O.O.” has evolved into “QQQ,” transforming from dots into lines. It represents a continuation of our previous activities, while also embodying our ambition to expand from points into lines in our own unique way.
2. You were actively involved in both the production and concept of your first mini album. What story or message does [QtoresQ] represent for you?
We wanted to talk about what it means to be true to ourselves. In particular, the title track “UNCOOL” carries the message that not being “cool” can actually be what makes you authentic and unique. At its core, it’s about learning to love yourself.
3. How would you describe your current music style in one phrase?
The story that belongs only to QQQ. We tried to capture, quite literally, the stories QQQ wants to tell and the things only QQQ can do.
4. All four tracks, whether energetic or calm, carry strong emotional and lyrical depth. Is there one song that feels especially personal to you, and why?
It’s really hard to choose just one since all four tracks represent us so well, but I’d like to pick “QtoresQ,” which shares the same title as the album. “QtoresQ” carries the meaning of rescuing Q from Q—sometimes we become the Q that reaches out a helping hand, and other times you become the Q that rescues us. It holds the message of supporting and giving strength to each other, which makes it feel especially meaningful to us.
5. Your international fanbase continues to grow, including in Europe. If you were to tour here, what kind of experience would you want to create for your fans?
It’s such great news to hear that our international fanbase is growing! Wherever you call for QQQ, we’ll be ready to visit anytime. If we get the chance to tour Europe, we’d love to showcase QQQ’s unique music and charm, and share joyful moments and unforgettable memories together with our fans.
6. We’d love to hear what’s next. Is there an artistic project you’re looking forward to?
As you mentioned, if our international fans call for us, we would love to tour Europe and the Americas as well.We don’t have any finalized plans yet, but if the opportunity arises, we hope to expand our activities beyond QQQ’s albums to include individual projects from KB, JISUNG, and NINE—so we’d really appreciate your continued support and anticipation.
